Kitchen with Hempcrete wall and Bamboo Structure
This kitchen is situated right next to the impressive Bamboo Pavilion at Akasha Academy in Suntakhan, Kathmandu. The building’s foundation is solid concrete, and it boasts a structural component made of resilient Harauti Bamboo (Bambusa Balcooa) and a roofing component constructed from durable Mal bamboo (Bambusa Nutan). The walls are made of robust hempcrete with bamboo studs as framing, providing a substantial overall wall thickness of 10 inches including the limestone plaster. The roofing will be completed using high-quality clay tiles with a four-sided slope.
The project has reached its final stage of approval, with all design drawings, BOQ, and site clearance successfully secured. Construction is set to commence in the first week of June.
