Bachi Amma Foundation

Bachi Amma Foundation located at Lekhnath, Pokhara is a hostel for orphan girls. It is an NGO based in the Netherlands whose main goal is to help orphan girls from different parts of Nepal get opportunities and facilities that they’ve been deprived of. This foundation helps uplift their education and provides various other facilities. We helped them build various bamboo furniture of different varieties and designs.

The project consisted of the entire furniture of the hostel including bamboo bunker bed, double bed, sofa set, dining table, stool, mirror stand, cloth hanger, closet, drawer cabinet, and kitchen rack.

The concept was to use most of the furniture made from bamboo for the hostel use. The challenge for GBC in completing this project was that it was conducted during the lockdown period and we had to heavily rely on designs and dimensions that were provided to us through the internet and email.

Not being able to visit the site due to the lockdown was a great challenge. Similarly, verification of details regarding the project was not possible to do in person since our donor is from the Netherlands. So managing communication with the donor from the Kathmandu office and overseeing the site work remotely was a challenging task. Nonetheless, the project was successfully completed
